The Grand Falls-Windsor town council and local Community Health Care Coalition say a family care team servicing the busy central Newfoundland region is on “life support.”
The Family Care Team was opened last year with the goal of addressing the more than 4,000 people in the area without a family doctor.
In the months since it was established, a failure to attract needed staff, particularly family physicians, has resulted in the integration of what the town calls “a very small number of patients” into the system.
They say immediate action is needed and they are calling on government to respond “decisively and without further delay.”
The town says it is aware that a group of local doctors have offered to help.
