We’re into the final days of leadup to the Tely 10 and while nobody knows what the weather gods will bring, the long-range forecast is calling for sunshine and temperatures in the twenties in metro.
The big race goes Sunday morning at 8:00 in Paradise with the finish line at Bannerman Park.
Joe Ryan, who is preparing for his 51st Tely 10, says it’s important to be hydrated in the days leading up to the event rather than guzzling water the morning of. On the route itself, Ryan recommends stopping at the water stations and taking small sips rather than big gulps.
He urges runners to drink consistently, and to pour water down over their head and neck to stay cool for a little while. If it is hot, he says runners will have to slow it down, otherwise they will end up in trouble.
