The Opposition is asking whether or not the province’s water bombers are fully staffed.
Opposition Forestry critic Pleaman Forsey says according to information released last July government reported having only 7 pilots available to staff 3 planes.
Previously the provincial waterbomb fleet consisted of six planes and 18 pilots.
Forsey says while the assistance provided by Ontario and Quebec in battling the fires in Labrador are appreciated, he wants to know how many new staff have been hired in the past year and does the province have a full complement? He also wants to know if the province has the pilots and crew capacity necessary to deploy all four planes simultaneously.
