Princess Anne was injured yesterday and is in hospital with minor injuries, including a concussion, and will no longer be visiting Newfoundland and Labrador to take part in Memorial Day Ceremony next Monday.
The accident happened outdoors on the grounds of the Gatcombe Estate Sunday evening.
Princess Anne is the Colonel in Chief of the Royal Newfoundland Regiment and President of the Commonwealth War Graves Commission.
The first leg of her visit would have been St. John’s for the repatriation of the Unknown Soldier next Monday, July 1 at the National War Memorial.
This would have been her first visit to the province since 2016.
In a statement, Premier Andrew Furey says he is saddened to hear that the Princess won’t be able to attend Memorial Day ceremonies in St. John’s, and wishes her a speedy recovery.
