A course focused on the history of Newfoundland and Labrador will soon be mandatory for all high school students.
Newfoundland and Labrador Studies 2205 is already offered as an elective, but will be required in order to receive a high school diploma by 2027.
The course, which has not been updated since 2010, will undergo a revision between now and the 2027 school year to include updated information.
The Department of Education is working with Indigenous governments and groups to ensure Indigenous heritage is portrayed accurately.
