Despite recent by-election losses, Premier Andrew Furey’s overall approval rating has increased from where it was in March according to a new Angus Reid survey.
The study has the Premier’s approval rating at 55 per cent. That’s an increase of 8 points from 47 per cent in March.
In that same timeframe the Liberals have lost two seats to the opposition PCs in by-elections.
One in the district of Fogo Island-Cape Freels in April, and the other in Baie Verte-Green Bay in May.
The rating makes Furey, the only Liberal Premier in the country, the second most popular leader behind Manitoba Premier Wab Kinew, who holds an approval rating of 66 per cent.
Ontario Premier Doug Ford and New Brunswick’s Blaine Higgs are tied for the lowest approval rating of 31 per cent.
PEI Premier Dennis King isn’t included in the data.
