Government set aside $3.5 million for the program in this year’s budget.
It will allow people not eligible for the federally-funded Skills Development Program to avail of similar supports for training.
It will also help people who aren’t eligible for EI and face barriers to finding work and getting post secondary education by offering retraining and upgrading.
It will help people attend full time post secondary programs that are at least 12 weeks long by offering a living allowance, childcare costs, and the cost of training.
