Lin Paddock is now officially a Member of the House of Assembly.
He was sworn in yesterday during a ceremony overseen by Lt-Gov. Joan Marie Aylward.
Paddock was elected the PC MHA for Baie Verte-Green Bay in a byelection last month.
He replaces Liberal MHA Brian Warr, who stepped aside after representing the district since 2015.
Paddock was asked for his thoughts on the big day, right after being sworn in.
“I reflect on my heritage, growing up in Robert’s Arm. You know my roots go back two centuries,” he said. “So that’s what I reflect on; the struggles of the first generation who made it possible for all of us to be able to be here today.”
Paddock’s election brings the number of Tories in the House to 13, while the governing Liberals have 22 seats.
The NDP have three while there are two Independent members in the House.
