Canada Day celebrations will be in full swing throughout the capital city today.
Things kicked off bright and early with the sunrise ceremony atop Signal Hill earlier this morning with more events getting underway this afternoon.
An afternoon of family-friendly activities, games and live entertainment will be going ahead from 1 to 5 p.m. indoors at the TechniPlex because of the wet weather. Admission is free, but donations of non-perishable items are being accepted for the Community Food Sharing Association.
The live music and fireworks show scheduled for this evening has been cancelled.
Meanwhile, all recreation facilities and community centres, and Robin Hood Bay are closed in the capital city today due to the Memorial Day and Canada Day holiday.
Garbage and recycling collection is not going ahead, and paid parking regulations will not be enforced.
The Visitor Information Centre on Water Street, the splash pads in Kenmount Terrace and Bannerman Park, and public washrooms are open.
All street cleaning operations are also going ahead tonight beginning at 10 p.m.
