An interim health minister will be named today following Tom Osborne’s retirement.
Osborne’s last day on the job was Friday after 28 years as an elected official.
Premier Andrew Furey calls Osborne an “incredible” friend, colleague, and public servant.
Furey says the fact that Osborne served for 28 years is a testament to the person he is, and his commitment to the people and province is something that will be “unmatched.”
Furey is not tipping his hand as to when a by-election for the district might be called, or for who will be permanently placed in the role of health minister.
However he does reveal that an interim health minister will be appointed today.
