A young Ontario man is none-the-worse after a harrowing ordeal that resulted in an extensive rescue effort on the province’s west coast.
Emergency responders were called out around 6:00 yesterday evening after the 19-year-old, who was out exploring, became stranded on a rock face at Rattling Brook Falls near York Harbour.
Responding police officers joined members of the Corner Brook and York Harbour/Lark Harbour fire departments as well as Bay of Islands Search and Rescue and the Emergency Services Division of the Department of Public Safety and the Joint Rescue Coordination Centre in getting the man to safety.
The young man was airlifted to safety by helicopter around 1:30 this morning and was reunited with his family. There were no injuries.
