A 38-year-old man was arrested for impaired following a hit and run in the capital city overnight.
Shortly after midnight, the RNC responded to the area of Mount Scio Road. Witnesses reported that the driver who fled the scene was headed towards the centre city area, and his vehicle had one flat tire with sparks coming from the rim.
More calls came into police about a possible impaired driver and officers headed to the last known area of the vehicle. They then followed some debris and damaged pavement to a home in the area.
Officers saw a man backing the damaged vehicle with a missing rim into a driveway. They spoke with the man and eventually arrested him for impaired driving, refusing the breathalyzer and failing to stop at the scene of an accident.
His vehicle was impounded and his driver’s licence was seized.
