A man floored it when RNC flashed the lights on him in the west end of St. John’s at about midnight, leaving the scene at a high rate of speed. But, police caught up with the 69-year-old nearby a short time later.
The man, who owed $10,000 in fines before the incident, faces new charges of flight from police and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle.
His vehicle was impounded and he was taken to the lockup.
Meanwhile, a 41-year-old man continues to rack up fines after being stopped by the RNC in the west end of St. John’s mid-afternoon yesterday driving a car but with virtually none of the proper credentials.
He had no driver’s licence, no insurance and his vehicle was not registered.
The man already owed the Crown $16,000 in fines. The vehicle was impounded.
