SquidFest activities are well underway in the town of Holyrood.

The five day event kicked off yesterday with a surf and turf dinner and bonfire.

Events over the next couple of days include a seniors social BBQ and dance, a Best Kind Comedy Show, Beach Party, and a fireworks display to end things off on Sunday.

Kyle Hawco, the director of recreation and community events with the town, says planning the festival is a year-round project.

He says they will clue up SquidFest 35 on July 21, and the next day they will begin planning for SquidFest 36.
