The NDP is accusing the provincial government of failing to address what it calls the “deepening health care crisis.”
Leader Jim Dinn says there has been an “alarming” increase in the number of people with no access to a family doctor and Premier Andrew Furey has been unable to explain how the situation as gone from “bad to worse.”
The Newfoundland and Labrador Medical Association wants to see more federal health care funding made available.
NLMA President indicated to CBC this week that the number of Newfoundlanders and Labradorians without access to a family doctor has risen to 175,000.
Dinn says that worsening situation requires the negotiation of a better federal funding deal for health care in the province.
