Members of the Shallaway Youth Choir are headed to Japan today as part of what’s being called an “enriching tour” for its members.
The trip, which lasts for over a week, includes a full day workshop with the Kyoto Junior Chorus, and a series of “high profile” performances and cultural activities.
The group will be performing at the Cultural Museum of Kyoto, Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park, and the Canadian embassy in Tokyo.
Artistic Director Kellie Walsh says travelling with a choir can foster connections that last a lifetime, and “authentically engage with other cultures.”
