Some federal ridings in this province will be under a new name come election time.
St. John’s South-Mount Pearl will become the riding of Cape Spear, and will no longer stretch into Bay Bulls and Witless Bay, but will branch out to include the Town of Paradise.
There will be no change in the boundaries, but the riding of Coast of Bays-Central-Notre Dame will be known as Central Newfoundland.
The current riding of Bonavista-Burin-Trinity will be slightly expanded to include parts of the southern Avalon including St. Mary’s Bay, and will be renamed Terra Nova-The Peninsulas.
A full breakdown of each riding can be found on Elections Canada’s website.
The changes will come into effect when the next federal election is called.
