Anyone planning to hire a contractor to get some work done on their property should prepare to face a possible backlog in getting something as basic as a quote.
That’s according to the Better Business Bureau of Canada. Julia Lewis, CEO of the Atlantic division, who says it all depends on the type of professional one is looking to hire.
She says a plumber or electrician may be easier to track down, but there may be difficulties in finding general contractors due to the volume of projects they’re tasked with overseeing.
Lewis says labour shortages play a role, but demand is the biggest driver behind a lengthy waitlist.
While it may be tempting to hire the first company who can provide services, Lewis recommends shopping around and getting at least three quotes.
