Whether you like them jammed, baked in a pie, or as they are, there will be blueberries galore this weekend at the annual Brigus Blueberry Festival.
Things got off to a start on Friday night with festivities planned throughout the entire weekend.
Megan Mugford, Marketing and Sales Administrator for Stingray NL, has a special connection to the long running event—her grandmother, Joan Hiscock, was chair of the committee that organized the very first festival back in 1988.
Having attended the festival throughout her childhood, she says it remains one of her favourite traditions.
She says what started out as a gathering of a couple hundred has turned into a massive celebration, drawing in locals and tourists alike.
Mugford says the event draws in close to 15,000 people each year.
A full slew of events, including a pie eating contest, music, and fireworks will be going ahead over the weekend. A full list can be found online.
