One of the province’s most iconic and memorable voices has been silenced.
Long-time broadcaster Randy Snow passed away on Sunday of natural causes. He was 61.
A native of Gander, Snow started his broadcasting career with VOCM at the age of 16 at 650 CKGA in Gander. He later moved to St. John’s for a 15 year stint with OZFM.
Snow returned to the VOCM fold in 2003 where hosted the morning show for Hits FM, which he did successfully for many years, before transitioning into hosting the Afternoon Drive for a number of years.
In 2019, he returned to OZFM where he ended his radio career just one year ago.
Larry Davis, better known as Larry Jay to listeners, was a co-worker with Randy Snow for 15 years. He said Randy’s personality on the radio was very easy to sum up.
“A common man and everyone’s friend. When you turned on the radio and there was someone that you knew early in the morning… a friend.”
Funeral arrangements have not yet been announced.
