Public health officials in this province are monitoring developments with the mpox virus closely, and while the risk right now is low, the Chief Medical Officer of Health is providing tips on what to do should someone come down with the virus.
Trace levels of the virus have been detected in wastewater testing, but officials say circulation in the province is low.
If someone does contract it, however, Dr. Janice Fitzgerald says for the most part mpox resolves itself.
She says there can be symptomatic treatment, but that’s only done in select cases.
