The Newfoundland and Labrador Liquor Corporation has released its financial results for the first quarter of their fiscal year, which ended on July 6, and overall sales are up.
The biggest jump is in cannabis. The NLC reports sales at licensed cannabis retailers totaled $24.2-million for the quarter, a 25.8 per cent increase over the same time last year. Total cannabis sales for the quarter, including online sales, were $24.3-million.
Alcohol sales are also up, totaling $74.1-million—a total increase of 5.8 per cent over the previous year.
There was a decrease, however, in the output of Rock Spirits. There was a 10 per cent decrease in spirits, and a 14.5 per cent decrease in the ready-to-drink category and beer.
The NLC acquaints the dip to a decrease in demand for the product from some of their co-packing partners, and the timing of production.
