The Teachers’ Union says challenges remain in filling vacancies at schools in rural and remote areas of the province.
NLTA President Trent Langdon says he’s pleased that officials started accepting applications earlier to fill vacancies in the school system, but some positions are proving harder to fill than others.
He says it’s harder to recruit someone to a rural or isolated area, especially for someone who is not familiar with the area. “So, it’s really nothing new; this late in the game, we still got those positions left unfilled.”
