Students of Holy Redeemer in Spaniard’s Bay are reunited again as the new school year gets underway.
Hundreds of the school’s K-9 students were spread about the region last May after a strong odour was detected in the school, prompting an extensive process to identify the source and fix the problem.
Area MHA Pam Parsons says the source of the fuel smell was never identified, but equipment has been installed and officials are offering reassurances that it is no longer an issue at the school.
“There has been a ventilation system that takes that odor outside the building,” says Parsons.
“I’m told by officials in the department that numerous rounds of testing have been done, and it has been deemed safe by the professionals.”
