A pilots strike at Canada’s largest airline has been averted after a tentative deal was reached on the heels of a midnight deadline.
The agreement between Air Canada and the Air Line Pilots Association means over 5,200 pilots will not be heading to the picket line, eliminating concerns over major cancellations for over 100,000 travellers who fly the airline daily.
Terms of the four-year deal will become publicly available once a ratification vote takes place within the next few weeks.
Those who rescheduled their flights between September 15 – 23 can now request to have their itinerary reverted to their original travel plans at no extra cost, given there is space available on those flights.
We have reached a tentative, four-year collective agreement with the Air Line Pilots Association (ALPA), representing more than 5,200 pilots at Air Canada and Air Canada Rouge. The agreement recognizes the contributions of Air Canada’s pilot group. More: https://t.co/MD2eBiUYwi pic.twitter.com/OaLS2tp7lm
