The opposition is calling on the province to re-instate 24-hour snow clearing ahead of the winter season.
MHA Jim McKenna says without around-the-clock snow clearing, commuters are at risk.
He says the province should reinstate the program that was cut in 2016.
However, the province says the program that was eliminated in 2016 was a pilot program for high-traffic areas of the TCH and some trunk roads.
It currently has 14 roadways with around-the-clock service.
McKenna says Newfoundland and Labrador’s vast geography and unpredictable weather patterns make it hard for commuters to travel along its roadways.
