While Premier Andrew Furey can’t say much publicly about the agreement with the Innu Nation on rate mitigation, he does believe that it is a good deal for all involved.
The two sides reached a tentative agreement on September 6.
The official agreement is being written up and government says a formal signing will happen in a couple of weeks.
Because of that, Furey can’t disclose much about the agreement, but does speak positively about the meetings leading up to it.
“We came to what I think was a good agreement for them and for the province, and will unlock potential for them in their communities moving forward.”
