NL Health Services has released its strategic plan for the year ahead.
The health authority provides health care services to more than 510,000 Newfoundlanders and Labradorians and employs more than 22,000 people, in addition to 1,100 physicians, with a budget of $3 billion.
It also operates with the help of some 1,800 volunteers.
Among the health authority’s objectives is to increase the number of new hires through targeted recruitment efforts, reduce the reliance on agency nurses by 30 per cent and work with unions to negotiate transition agreements by the end of March in 2025.
