Residents, visitors and those just passing through town have encountered problems with cell service in Deer Lake and the mayor is seeking answers.
Mike Goosney says unreliable cell service has long been an issue, not only in the town, but throughout the west coast region.
He says a recent post about cell service got a huge public response, and the town is pursuing answers from both cell providers and regulators but to no avail.
He says it’s not the CRTC that governs the issue, but the Commission of Complaints on Telecom Services or CCTS, and the town is encouraging people encountering problems to lodge their complaints there. “We keep getting a bag answer” says Goosney, “‘we’re investing into infrastructure,’ but it doesn’t seem to add up when services are starting to become more depleting in areas where historically it wouldn’t be.”
