The man who co-founded OceanGate alongside Stockton Rush will testify during week two of the U.S. Coast Guard’s hearing into the Titan disaster.
Guillermo Söhnlein teamed up with Rush to launch OceanGate in 2009. He left the company in 2013 to pursue other opportunities related to deep-sea exploration, but retained a minority stake.
Last week, the Coast Guard heard from several former OceanGate officials, including former director and company whistleblower, David Lochridge, who claimed Rush was hot-headed and money-driven.
Söhnlein will be the first to testify this morning in Charleston, South Carolina.
Former OceanGate engineering director Phil Brooks and Roy Thomas of the American Bureau of Shipping are also scheduled to appear this afternoon.
The hearing is expected to wrap up later this week.
