Residents of Random Island are now free to resume normal activities after being asked to secure themselves inside their homes as RCMP conducted an investigation into possible weapons offence in the community.
Police issued the warning late Saturday afternoon after responding to a report “involving a firearm and a vehicle.”
RCMP are continuing their investigation and search for a black BMW and say there is no known risk to the public.
Meanwhile, RCMP posted online before 5:30 p.m. that officers from Bay Roberts were responding to a black BMW on fire in Mackinsons. It is not clear at this time if the two incidents are connected.
Anyone who sees a black BMW car are asked to report sightings to police.
