The moose-hunting season in Terra Nova National Park opens in less than two weeks.
It’s set to begin on Tuesday, Oct. 15 and continue until Jan. 26 of next year.
However, the hunting season will remain closed in Zone 2 for the entire 2024-25 season.
Parks Canada launched hunting in Terra Nova in 2011 due to the impact an overpopulation of moose was having on forest regeneration.
Hunters are reminded to wear blaze-orange safety clothing when heading out to get their moose.
Others are also encouraged to wear blaze orange while hiking trails or doing other activities in the park, as an added precaution.
More information can be found on Parks Canada’s moose management site.
