A man is in custody after a dramatic chase involving a transport truck on the Trans Canada Highway in central Newfoundland.
RCMP first attempted to pull the truck over just before 6:00 Saturday evening, but were led on a chase spanning from Gambo through to Terra Nova National Park. Police finally managed to stop the rig just before 6:30 p.m. with the driver now taken into custody.
No further details have been provided on why police were initially attempting to pull the truck over.

RCMP in Newfoundland and Labrador are attempting to stop a transport truck travelling eastbound on the Trans-Canada Highway, east of Square Pond.
As of an update at 6:15 p.m. the tractor trailer was still heading east through Terra Nova Park. It is white in colour with no trailer in tow.
Police continue to urge drivers to be cautious if they encounter the vehicle.
Motorists are advised to avoid the area if possible.
