Big Brothers Big Sisters of Eastern Newfoundland is drumming up more support for their 75 Doors Campaign now that they have reached the halfway mark of the initiative.
The 75 Doors represent the list of young people waiting to be matched, and the funding hurdles the organization must overcome to make it happen.
Executive Director Kelly Leach says there are still 30 doors left to open with the campaign. But, with more children being enrolled, their waitlist could exceed 100 before the end of the year.
She says it takes $1,500 to open a door, which is the cost of the necessary background work to support the relationship between a ‘big’ and a ‘little’ for one year.
