The provincial government says they are exploring options for an adult RSV vaccination program.
RSV is a respiratory virus that mainly affects children, but can also have impacts on adults.
The Department of Health says are currently two treatment options available: A monoclonal antibody for infants at high risk of the disease, and a vaccine for adults at high risk.
Current recommendations from the National Advisory Committee on Immunization does not include an RSV vaccine for the general adult population.
The province says they will continue to fund the RSV program for infants, and they are “exploring options” for an adult program, with more information expected in the coming weeks.
