Three people have been arrested in connection with a homicide in Conception Bay North.
Human remains were found inside a burned-out truck in Bay Roberts last Monday. Three people: 28-year-old Stephanie Noftall and 41-year-old Matthew Kavanagh of Harbour Grace, and 34-year-old Terry Cole of Carbonear have each been charged with first degree murder.
The remains of a man were found inside a truck on Country Road in Bay Roberts Monday night and later last week, the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner ruled the death a homicide. The deceased is a 42-year-old from Spaniards Bay.
Officers, including the Explosive Disposal Unit and police dogs, surrounded a home on Gardner Place in Harbour Grace on the weekend, telling residents to shelter in place. After a number of hours, police arrested the trio, who also face charges of causing an indignity to human remains.
They were expected to appear in provincial court in Harbour Grace this afternoon.
RCMP say the crime began in the parking lot of Tim Horton’s and Needs Convenience on L.T. Stick Drive in Bay Roberts in broad daylight. They are looking for witnesses who may have been at the location between the hours of 5:30 a.m. and 7:30 a.m. Monday.
Anybody who may have been there is asked to check surveillance footage for a blue 2021 Chevrolet Colorado truck and a 4-door 2012 brownish/grey Honda Civic car, both of which were parked in the parking lot.
