The province’s Chief Medical Officer of Health is urging the public to get up to date on the latest COVID-19 vaccine.
Dr. Janice Fitzgerald says the province opened up the online portal yesterday to book an appointment for the shot.
She’s urging seniors, those with significant illnesses and pregnant people to get the vaccine.
This all comes as the province is seeing more COVID-19 cases this year compared to last.
“If you’re not at high risk for severe disease, you may get flu or COVID, but you may then end up passing it on. It may not be too bad for you, but you may end up passing it on to someone who may end up in a bad situation. So we don’t want that to happen and we want to reduce that as much as possible,” Fitzgerald said.
Between September 22-28, there were 89 active cases of COVID-19, with 16 hospitalizations.
