RNC officers issued no less than 271 tickets during the recent Thanksgiving long weekend.
The blitz was part of Operation Impact, a national public awareness campaign to help prevent collisions, save lives, and reduce injuries.
Police say “multiple” drivers had their licences suspended and vehicles seized for driving 50 km/h or more over the speed limit.
Four people were charged with impaired driving and three more were issued seven-day suspensions for suspected drunk driving.
In total, police say about a dozen drivers had their licences suspended, and nine vehicles were seized in connection with either speeding, impaired driving or mechanical issues.
The enforcement was carried out through checkpoints and speed enforcement meant to detect impaired driving, as well as aggressive driving, distracted driving, and driving without wearing a seatbelt.
