The provincial government is providing more detail on the recently-implemented medical benefits program for early childhood educators.
Coverage will be provided by Blue Cross via Dougan Insurance Group.
The benefits are optional and are available to people who work at least 20 hours a week, and who have worked at least 3 months in a regulated centre that participates in the operating grant program.
Eligible workers include ECEs, ECEs in training, other staff working in centres, and regulated family childcare providers.
Government is covering 60 per cent of the cost, while the rest is covered by workers.
Centres not on the operating grant program can also access the benefits, but government will not be funding any portion of the cost.
