A new report from the Canadian Centre for Health Information shows that in 2021-2022, the province had a net gain in the number of nurses coming in, but lost in terms of physicians.
The report, titled Taking the Pulse: Measuring Shared Priorities for Canadian Healthcare 2024 was released yesterday.
Babita Gupta, health system analytics manager with the institute, says there was a net gain when it comes to registered nurses and nurse practitioners.
Gupta explains the data paints a different story when talking about family physicians.
She says 71 physicians entered the workforce, while 117 exited, created a net loss of 46.
