The father of a young man who was shot near Fowler’s Road in CBS last Sunday evening believes the incident was random and he wants the public to check for possible video footage around the time of the incident.
The father, who asked not to be identified, described his 21-year-old son as quiet and hard-working on VOCM Open Line with Paddy Daly.
He says his son and his girlfriend had just picked up some ice cream and had parked to eat it when his son was shot in the back.
The father believes that the incident was random and he wants to know why a public alert wasn’t issued.
“I don’t understand why there wasn’t some kind of public alert to lock your doors, be safe.” says the father, “I mean it’s pretty bad when you can’t sit down, on a public street, without the fear of violence. I want answers.”
RNC say information gathered as part of their ongoing investigation did not lead them to believe there was an active criminal threat beyond the initial event.
He made a public plea for possible dash cam and surveillance video to help police in their investigation.
“I don’t want anyone out there thinking this is a drug deal gone wrong, or skeet vs skeet violence, this is my kid, and if it was your kid, you’d take the second to have a look at dash cams or property cameras or whatever.”
RNC are asking anyone with information surrounding the incident to contact them or Crime Stoppers.
