The RNC has charged an inmate in connection with the assault of two correctional officers in St. John’s.
RNC received a report on October 8th that two female correctional officers had been assaulted by an inmate at the St. John’s lockup.
One of the correctional officers suffered serious injuries and was treated in hospital, while the other received minor injuries, and did not require medical treatment.
Thirty-seven-year-old Adam Hayden was arrested and charged with assault, and assault causing bodily harm.
Hayden was sentenced back in 2019 in connection with a 2018 armed robbery at the TD Bank on Kelsey Drive. He also attempted to take a vehicle at gunpoint after it had stopped in traffic, but was arrested by the off-duty RCMP officer who was driving the vehicle at the time.
Hayden is being held in custody pending his next court appearance.
