The CEO of Work Global Canada, which matches new Canadians with job vacancies, is sounding the alarm on federal immigration cutbacks.
Paul Shelley believes the reduction in immigration numbers announced by Ottawa last week will hit Newfoundland and Labrador harder than any other province.
Shelley, a former PC MHA in Baie Verte, says foreign workers are crucial for the trades in the province and warns that a one-size-fits-all approach won’t work for Newfoundland and Labrador.
He says he’s already hearing from companies that are worried about getting enough workers.
