An officer’s check on the well-being of an unconscious driver resulted in a drug seizure and charges against a 34-year-old woman.
Placentia RCMP say they came upon a vehicle idling in the parking lot of a closed business around 10:45 Tuesday night.
The officer noted that the driver appeared to be either sleeping or passed-out behind the wheel.
RCMP say the officer roused the woman, who showed signs of drug impairment. As well, they seized a quantity of suspected cocaine, crack cocaine, prescription medications and pill packages, as well as a variety of drug paraphernalia and several cellphones.
The woman, who was not named, was arrested and samples of her blood were taken at the hospital. Police are awaiting the results to determine if drug-impaired driving charges are warranted.
The suspect is scheduled to appear in court on charges of possession for the purpose of trafficking in a controlled substance.
