An unusual recovery effort has been registered with the Department of Environment for environmental assessment.
The Western Sno-Riders are hoping to recover a washed-out Bailey, which is currently about 182 metres downstream from its original location at South Brook in Pasadena.
The Western Sno-Riders, which helps to create, maintain and groom snowmobile trails on the island’s west coast, wants to replace the bridge with a new and longer bridge connecting it to the existing snowmobile trail network.
Construction will include clearing a short access trail to recover the old bridge with an excavator and placing armour stone and concrete blocks on either bank of the river for the construction of a new bridge.
The deadline for public comment is December 6th. The minister’s decision is due by December 16th.
