A state of emergency remains in place for parts of Paradise today as work continues to fix serious waste water issues.
Problems at Lift Station 10 have resulted in issues moving waste from several residential and commercial areas.
Mayor Dan Bobbett says problems were discovered last week by town crews doing a routine inspection.
He says they declared the state of emergency yesterday to get access to additional resources to fix the problems ASAP.
The mayor would not give any timelines as to when the issues will be resolved.
“I’m hoping soon,” said Bobbett. “A big problem like this takes time to identify and repair and we’re dedicated to getting that done.”
While there is no direct impact on residents, they are being asked to minimize wastewater use by limiting the use of washing machines and dishwaters and not flushing toilets.
That will help to alleviate pressure on the sewer system, as crews work on equipment issues. There is no impact on drinking water.
