The Torbay bypass road has been renamed after former area MHA Kevin Parsons who passed away in August.
The ceremony was held this morning at Confederation Building.
Tributes were paid to Parsons in the House of Assembly this week. The former mayor of Flatrock served the people of Cape St. Francis as MHA with the Tories for three terms.
Premier Andrew Furey welcomed Parsons’ family during today’s event, and announced that it was important to honour his legacy and the impact he had on the people he served.
“I doubt that anyone certainly in this room doesn’t recognize the strong force, the good force of nature that was Kevin Parsons, and the impact that he has left on the political landscape and the very foundation of the spirit of all Newfoundlanders and Labradorians,” Furey told those packed into the lobby of Confederation Building.
