Canada Post employees rallied outside the province’s main office on Kenmount Road in St. John’s over the lunch hour as a possible strike looms.
Members of the Canadian Union of Postal Workers were backed up by the Federation of Labour during the rally, as well as several other unions including MUNFA, CUPE and NAPE.
According to Craig Dyer, president of the CUP-W St. John’s local, negotiations have been happening for over a year.
Last week, Dyer says the negotiating team presented the company with two global offers, one for urban operations and one for rural.
Dyer said he was speaking with their national union director Thursday night, and learned that Canada Post is reviewing the offer.
He says the offer presented would get them a collective agreement.
Dyer wants to see Canada Post move away from what he calls “rollbacks” on things such as their pensions and work structure.
