The provincial government has issued a request for proposals for the construction of the new school for Kenmount Terrace in St. John’s.
The site was announced last year. However, since then concerns have been raised by parents and opposition politicians that government is not moving fast enough to meet their promise to have the school open by the fall of 2026.
The new, three-storey structure will be accessible via Ladysmith Drive and include 44 classrooms for an expected enrolment of 860 students from Kindergarten to Grade 7.
The school will also have three pre-Kindergarten homerooms for up to 60 children.
Once opened, the school is expected to be one of the largest in the province for its grade configuration.
The RFP application process closes on Dec. 19.
