Newfoundland and Labrador’s unemployment rate nudged upward last month but ever so slightly. It was 10.0 per cent in September and 10.1 per cent last month. That remains the highest in the country but, PEI is a close second at 10.0 per cent.
Canada’s national unemployment rate was 6.5 per cent in October, unchanged from September. Statistics Canada says the economy added a modest 15,000 jobs last month.
In the City of St. John’s, the jobless rate kept pace with the national percentage.
Average hourly wages nationwide grew 4.9 per cent from a year ago, reaching $35.76.
